A Movie About not Knowing What to Film

(一齣毋知影欲拍啥物的電影) is an artistic presentation of my dissertation about From Collective Trauma to Urban Fragmentation: Tracing the Evolution of Modern Taiwanese Identity through the Taiwan New Wave Cinema of Hou Hsiao-Hsien and Edward Yang. this short film is inspired by Taiwan New Wave Cinema and the story reflects on the weight of carrying the history of the White Terror era as a contemporary Taiwanese, and a journey of looking back at the history and finding a narrative context for my film. The work presents a contrast between the old and new cityscapes of Taipei and the beauty of the natural landscape. To enhance the theme of language dominance during the White Terror era, the dialogue switches between Taiwanese Hokkien (Taiwanese Dialect) and Mandarin.
